The Trip of Nový Jičín - Hodslavice (7 km)
First we will set out from Nový Jičín to
Bludovice.
Bludička farmstead is surely worth visiting; it dates back to 1883. It is a typical family farm with a lot of animals: horses, cows, goats, and also unique Walachian sheep. It does not lack even geese, cats and dogs. If you are interested, you can go for a marvellous canter on the hillsides of Bludovice.
From Bludička we will get to the heart of Bludovice, where we will find Baroque
St. Michael’s Chapel.
Enjoyment of sport is offered by a downhill course with a ski lift and a possibility of evening skiing, built on the slope of Palacký Hill.
From Bludovice we will proceed in the direction of Hodslavice.
Hodslavice is the southernmost part of the region of Nový Jičín.
One of the most important sights in the village is the
Memorial - František Palacký’s Parental Home, which was built by his father Jiří in 1796; Jiří Palacký also established an evangelical school here. In 1978 this house was declared to be a national culture monument. In the house there is an exposition of
František Palacký’s life and work together with an exposition of the village history.
Near F. Palacký’s Memorial there is the folk wooden
St. Andrew’s Church built in 1551, with a Gothic carved Madonna on the altar, one of the oldest churches in our country.
In the village there is also a big parish church built in historicist style. Above the village there is a masonry wind mill built in 1864, which is a listed building.
František Palacký’s Nature Trail Relating to National History and Geography, which goes in a west semicircle around Hodslavice, passes through Hodslavice, too. Along the 11.5 km long nature trail there are 21 information boards, which inform the visitors of the places of interest in their proximity and draw the visitors’ attention to wonderful views of the environs. The trail starts at Janáček’s Park in Nový Jičín and ends at Domoraz Saddle.
Near the railway station Hodslavice - Hostašovice there is the water dam of
Kacabaja, which was built as a protection against flooding. In summer it is plentifully used as a natural swimming pool. Near the water area there are grass-covered beaches.
